OSHA to host Twitter chat on reporting requirements

OSHA

Washington – OSHA is inviting employers to take part in a Twitter chat to discuss the agency’s new reporting and recordkeeping requirements.

Beginning Jan. 1, the new requirements will go into effect for employers covered by federal OSHA. In addition to the current requirement to report all fatalities within eight hours, employers will be required to report within 24 hours any inpatient hospitalizations, amputations or losses of an eye.

The final rule also entails OSHA moving from the Standard Industrial Classification system to the newer North American Industry Classification System. The switch is expected to make it easier for OSHA to compare injury and illness data with other government databases, most of which use NAICS.

The Dec. 11 chat is scheduled to take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET. Anyone interested in participating may ask questions during the chat or follow the conversation by using the hashtag “#Reporting2015.”
